Curriculum Opportunities

We pride ourselves on a wide range of curriculum opportunites for our students

It’s not the curriculum that we offer that sets us apart, it’s the manner in which it’s delivered

Any school can teach a curriculum. Our teachers actively and passionately explore the possibilities of making their teaching practice more innovative, engaging and fun at every turn. This is the single ingredient that drives the most growth in our students.

The success we attain is not only evidenced by assessment data, it’s seen through the smiles and joy we see on our students’ faces as a concept is grasped. This is the indefinable element that drives our teachers to grow their teaching skills year in, year out.

Education in Faith

St Gregory the Great is a Catholic primary school, where we believe that Religious Education underpins all aspects of school life.

Student Wellbeing

In line with our vision statement we are called to serve the families of St Gregory the Great Parish and wider community. The spiritual, social, emotional and physical wellbeing of our students is pivotal to the continued development of the whole person.

Literacy

At St Gregory the Great School we teach English at each student’s individual point of need. We aim to provide our students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Numeracy

St Gregory the Great School believes that Mathematics encourages children to develop critical thinking skills and solve problems in the real world.

Physical Education

Our Physical Education program aims to help students understand the importance of being physically active. We want our students to make the connection between having a healthy body and mind through various physical activities.

Visual Arts

Students learn the use of different techniques, artistic mediums and processes then demonstrate these when planning and creating artwork. Students are encouraged to use appropriate art language to describe why they have created their pieces and what has influenced them. Students are also encouraged to identify how artistic ideas can be expressed using diverse contemporary, historical and cultural contexts.

Music & Performing Arts

Students learn the importance of counting the rhythm in dance. They are given the opportunity to present short stories or songs using a microphone with the emphasis on rehearsing what want to say or sing.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

The use of STEM as an approach to teaching and learning, can improve students’ problem solving and critical analysis skills. Students are encouraged to follow the scientific process when solving problems by questioning, hypothesising, planning, creating, testing, evaluating, and sharing their results in order to find solutions to problems.

Digital Technologies

The Digital Technologies curriculum enables students to become confident and creative developers of digital solutions through the application of information systems and specific ways of thinking about problem solving.

Extra Curricular Activities

We believe in educating the whole child and encourage students to explore other areas of interest so that they are able to discover interests and talents.
